Hello, my name is Andréa, and I am Fraser’s mom.

Fraser was born in Oct 2022 with very unexpected trauma - he suffered hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy (HIE), and was cooled for 72 hours. Whilst he was in the NICU, we were being prepped for the worst case scenario, but he’s grown into a bubbly and giggly little boy.

Fraser did not come out unscathed from his birth trauma. His whole body is affected by cerebral palsy, and he struggles to perform any basic task without full support. He requires 1:1 support for all of his daily activities, and requires equipment to sit/stand/walk. While we are fortunate that the NHS provides basic equipment and specialist medical support, it is understaffed and underfunded, and cannot provide any specialist paediatrics hands on neurological therapy, or any equipment outside of their core stock. We have had to research and fund equipment through some charities, but mostly with the support of family and friends.

Fraser has worked really hard to improve his head control, eating, sitting/trunk control and his favourite, walking (more like running). He cannot speak, and we are also looking for technologies that will support his communication. As he grows, so does his equipment, but not all of his equipment is readily available nor is it best suited for his needs.

I have decided to set up a go fund me page to support him in funding private paediatric neuro physio (we often travel to Canada to visit family, and enroll in specialist neuro PT session). So far, we have self-funded these sessions, in addition to other forms of therapy (e.g rebound therapy, hydrotherapy). Being a trained physiotherapist, this is as much of a learning journey for me, too. I am hoping to purchase more equipment so that I can keep providing him with physio at home on a daily basis (e.g. vibration plate, therapy table, sensory tools, etc) for now, and in the future.
