Fran's (Ziska's) Top Surgery

Hi, my name's Fran. I'm a trans actor and musician based in Toronto. I am raising funds for my upcoming gender-affirming top surgery this month. The surgery is very important to me as I will finally be able to step towards a version of myself that aligns visually with who I am on the inside.

I always knew something didn't quite feel right when I was growing up and for a long period of my life, I turned to substances to ease the pain. When I took the steps towards recovery and getting clean over three years ago now, I realised that I just didn't feel right in my skin and the reason I disliked myself so much was because I was trans. I didn't realise that that was okay and I had a right to exist as my true self. This revelation changed my life in the best possible way. I spent all my life wishing I was invisible but I am now ready to be visible.

The funds will cover a portion of the surgery and one month of aftercare with the time I have to take off from work. Part of the surgery is considered cosmetic and therefore OHIP doesn't cover it. The rest of the funds I am raising will go towards rent, bills and groceries for the month I am unable to work. As an arts worker contracts are not consistent and therefore I am unable to work as I would usually in-between contracts to cover my basic needs. Any leftover money will be donated to others for their gender-affirming surgery.
