Frank's hit and run recovery fund
On Monday, June 20th, Frank Hussman was on his motorcycle on his way to work. A vehicle swerved into his lane and sent Frank flying into a pole causing trauatic, life-changing injuries, and the driver of that car then fled the scene with no concern for Frank's life. thankfully there were witnesses that stayed on the scene and assisted Frank. One even had a cervical spine collar to help stabalize him. We are all so thankful for that assistance at the horrific scene.
The accident caused three of his cervical vertabrae to shatter, one of which damaged his spinal column. He also has 8 ribs that were fractured and one that is broken, causing terrible pain. Frank is currently paralyzed in the ICU at UNMC and will be there at least a week before being moved to a regular room. He will then need months of extensive rehab at a private facility. Our current medical concerns are pain management and praying that he will regain full feeling and use of his arms and legs.
Frank is the sole provider for his wife and their combined 8 children and will need help covering expenses while he recovers. Unfortunately, Frank does not have medical insurance and the police have not located the driver that hit him, so finances are a huge and immediate concern for his family.
If you've been lucky enough to have met Frank, you know he's a talented, hard-working, very kindhearted man that is always willing to go the extra mile to help anyone. His clients at the barbershop know his sense of humor and dedication to them and to his family. Frank works 6 days a week to support his family, so this long recovery is going to be very difficult emotionally and financially. Frank is a very private person but understands this is a time to accept help for his wife, Jen and their children.
