Franklin's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
My family and I write this with a very heavy heart on behalf of our nephew, cousin and grandson, Franklin Lopes. On Tuesday, December 13, 2022, both Franklin and his sister, Gabriella Lopes were involved in a very serious accident. Both were found unconscious and were rushed to the hospital. Gabriella sustained multiple cuts, bruises and three fractured ribs. Franklin's injuries were more severe and life-altering. Although I'm unable to list all his injuries, what I can say is that they included multiple pelvic fractures and a complete separation of the lower vertebrates from the pelvis.
Franklin has been in the hospital for over 2 weeks now and has undergone three surgeries. The doctors have indicated that his recovery will be long and have given no guarantee that Franklin will be able to walk again without the use of braces. He will need to relearn how to sit up, stand and walk and we pray to our Lord God that he regains sensation in his feet and give him the strength to do all of those things. In addition to this, his home will need to be altered to help him navigate around more easily.
Before the accident, Franklin had been laid off from his construction job and was focused on his health and the healing of his gut because he had been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease just two years ago. Those who know Franklin, know that he is a young man who is family oriented, responsible and always there to support his family and friends when needed. He had just recently found love and was looking forward to being with his long-distance girlfriend again in February.
Franklin is strong and although the pain he is enduring is sometimes unbearable we are amazed at how incredibly brave, determined and faithful he has been since this accident.
As Franklin recovers, he will need as much aid, prayers and encouragement as he can get as well as all the financial help we can give for the medical support he will need to be able to heal from his injuries.
There is no doubt that this will have a major financial impact on him and his family and therefore, on behalf of Franklin's family, I want to thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts for reading this. All of your prayers, wishes, love and donations mean the world to us.
