Franklin County's Female Firsts

Donation protected
Franklin County’s Female Firsts  is a public art exhibit that shines a light on Women's History Month (March 2020).

Local artist and photographer, Phillip Michael Whitley, has created an exhibit featuring portraits of various women who all share a commonality. They have all been glass ceiling breakers, carving their names into our local history as the “first female” to achieve, be elected, or create something in our county.  They may be the first female borough council president, Builders Association president, Bar Association president, or African American woman in banking management.

Please join us Friday, February 28 @ 5:30 pm at the Coyle Free Library when we recognize some of Franklin County's Female Firsts through Phillip Michael Whitley's Phabulous Photos and help raise money to support the Franklin County Library System (FCLS) and Healthy Community Partnership's Go Girls Go  (HCP) program.

The Franklin County Coalition for Progress (FCCP) , a 501 c non profit, is partnering with Phillip Michael Whitley to raise funds for this project. The funds raised will cover the cost of 50 copies of the book, Gutsy Women, which will be given to Go Girls Go participants and their mentors (who have been invited to the opening reception). Extra funds will be donated to the FCLS.
