My name is Frankie, but my mum always calls me Baby Fwankie (I know… she’s a bit silly like that). I’m a 10-month-old golden retriever boy, born on Halloween 2024 at Pencareg in Wales.

I love eating snacks, chasing toys, and zooming around the park with my bestest pal Floyd—he’s a squishy English Bulldog and we do the best rolly-pollies together. Sometimes, when we’re extra good boys, we even share a sausage!

But lately… things have changed.

Mum told me we have to stop going to the park. No more wild zoomies. No more wrestling with Floyd. I didn’t understand why—my tail still wagged the same, and my heart still wanted to play.

Then one day, my legs just didn’t want to work. I struggled to get up. Playing started to hurt. Even cuddling my toys felt hard. My mum cried a lot and kept asking, “Where does it hurt, Baby Fwankie?” I wish I could tell her.

The vet said I have something called bilateral hip dysplasia. Both my hips aren’t built right, and it’s causing me pain. I’m taking medicine now, and my vet sent me to a swimming pool—OMG, I LOVE the pool! I feel lighter there. Less wobbly. Less sore.

But even with the meds and hydrotherapy… mum still cries. Not because she doesn’t love me—but because she wants more for me. She wants me to run again. Chase Floyd. Go on long adventures. Be the goofy golden she knows I am inside.

Our insurance + savings cannot cover the cost that is why my pawrent's saving up for my surgery—to fix my hips so I can live my best life without pain. It’s a big thing. A hard thing. But we’re trying.
