Frankie’s Total Hip Replacement
TLDR: I'm poor and my dog needs a new hip.
In 2016 Frankenstein was diagnosed with Bilateral Hip Dysplasia, unfortunately we were only able to surgically repair his right side due to deterioration status of the left at that time. Per his surgeon's recommendation, we decided to wait until it was time for him to have his left hip replaced. This year Frankie had started becoming intermittently non-weight bearing on his left side, with radiographs showing significant evidence of deterioration of his hip, now requiring surgery.
Typically I am more prepared for instances like this, between having Care Credit, Pet Insurance(cause mastiffs are expensive and I am poor), and ability to make limited payments at my place of work. Unfortunately this is a very in depth orthopedic surgery that is not preformed at my job, and he has to be taken to University of Florida for the procedure. UF does not offer veterinary personnel discounts of any kind, and they require up front payment. Frankie's insurance will thankfully cover the majority of a roughly $6500 bill, but do to financial circumstances from recently moving into a new house after a legal battle with my previous leasing company, car troubles, and using my Care Credit to help a friend's pet and a friend in need, my extra funds leave much to be desired.
Those of you who know me know that I am not a fan of asking for help, and will literally let myself drown before asking. Since Frankie's quality of life is no longer comfortable despite the drugs and amount of cage rest I have been giving him, he can no longer wait until I get everything settled. So I'm sucking it up and asking for assistance for his sake. I posted images of his hip in 2016, his hip this year to show the deterioration, and the surgery that needs to be preformed to remove the femoral head, and have it replaced with an implant(bionic doggie!).
Boohoo, woe is me, anything helps, etc.
