Running Reading half marathon for our Frankie boy
Frankie is a vibrant, brave four-year-old boy with an infectious smile and a heart full of courage who brings so much joy to everyone who knows him. Despite his young age, Frankie is fighting a battle no child should face—mitochondrial disease, a rare and life-limiting condition with no cure currently that affects his body’s ability to produce the energy it needs to function. Every day presents new challenges for Frankie, from managing constant tiredness and muscle weakness to navigating the uncertainties of his condition.
To honour Frankie’s courage and to give hope to families affected by mitochondrial disease, Myself, Alana and a large number of very special family members and friends will be rallying together to run/crawl the Reading half marathon to raise funds for the Lily Foundation, a charity dedicated to supporting research, raising awareness, and offering vital assistance to families like ours. The Lily Foundation has been a beacon of hope, providing invaluable resources and striving for a future where no child has to endure the hardships of this disease. Our goal is to not only raise funds for research but also to shine a light on Frankie’s journey and the countless other children facing similar battles. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to treatments, answers, and a better future for children like Frankie.
If our little boy has battled for four years with this awful disease, the least we can do is battle for a few hours through the streets of Reading.
Thank you for reading our story!
