Frankie's Medical Help
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Kara Horsman. My husband and I got Frankie 3 years ago. She's 3 and a half years old. She's always been a happy, sweet, goofy and loving dog.
This year, she has faced more medical issues than we could've ever imagined. In January, we woke up one morning to find she was completely paralyzed from the waist down. Fearing the worst, we rushed her to Cornell Veterinary Hospital, where it was discovered she had IVDD and a disk in her spine had slipped out of place. She had the correcting surgery and came home after a few days. Her recovery was slow, but she was progressing as she should, and we started seeing our girl get back to herself over the next few months.
On Easter, we noticed she was lethargic, not interested in eating and wasn't behaving like herself. Out vets determined she has a very high white blood cell count and developed an ulcer on her tongue. She was given the proper medication, and we prayed this would help her. But unfortunately, weeks have gone by we are still in the same position. Our doctors aren't sure what is causing her high white blood cells. She's having kidney and liver problems and developing another ulcer in her mouth. She has lost weight and muscle in her legs and barely gets up anymore.
We would do anything to help our sweet girl. Our next steps are to take her back to Cornell Veterinary Hospital in hopes they can get to the cause of these medical problems. We've been told the road to her recovery will be long, but anything is worth saving her.
