Frankie Needs Knee Surgery
Donation protected
About Frankie:
In 2018, we adopted our dog Frankie, a chihuahua-corgi mix who has her goofy tongue out all the time due to a wonky jaw and palate. She might look like she's made of spare dog parts, but she's our best girl and our constant companion. When we adopted her, we were told she was likely between 1 and 2, which means she's about 7 now, so she should have many years of happy squirrel chasing in her future!
We recently learned that she has to have a routine but expensive surgery to repair a torn CCL (cranial cruciate ligament) in her left knee, and the right knee is similarly in jeopardy. We're asking for help to pay for the surgery, aftercare, and physical therapy that will help get Frankie back on her feet (literally).
Why we're asking for your help:
The honest truth is that we haven't always been good with money. But in the last few years we've been making strides to pay down our personal debt, pay off our student loans, and reduce our household expenses. Bad habits aren't easy to break, especially when my own mental health struggles have played a part in getting us to this place. In the past, we might have been able to pay for Frankie's surgery outright, but that isn't the case currently.
We're on the rebound from a bad period and this expensive surgery has to happen sooner rather than later, so we're asking for help get us through.
What your donation will help pay for:
- Surgery for Frankie's CCL (which includes anesthesia and pain management)
- Follow up appointments
- Physical therapy to help facilitate healing from this surgery and help prevent a possible future tear in her right CCL
We have calculated our fundraising amount based on the estimates given to us by the veterinarian. Any remaining funds not used on Frankie's CCL surgery will be put into a special savings account in case her right knee needs a future surgery.
We understand if you cannot donate to help us or would rather provide support in some other way. I own/operate a hand-dyed yarn business at Junkyarn Hand-Dyed Yarns so any purchases made from my store help us in many ways. I am also planning to put up a large portion of my personal craft supply stash (including fabric, sewing patterns, art supplies, yarn, and more) up for sale online soon to help offset the cost of Frankie's surgery. I will put a link on this page to that sale when it is live.
Thank you so much for considering helping us in any way, even if it's just to send some positive vibes our way. xo Kemper
