Frankie J's AAA Heart Repair Surgery

Donation protected
I am raising money for my recent Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) surgery.

On Saturday, January 18th, I went and checked myself into the ER at Abrazo Hospital Scottsdale Campus because I had some blood in my saliva and burning in my chest. Having had a double stroke and aortic aneurysm in the past, I tried to be responsible this time and get my symptoms checked out immediately. After completing an ultrasound, the doctors found that they would need to repair the endoluminal graft in my abdominal aorta and recommended that I get a CT with contrast scan done as soon as possible to see exactly where the issue exists. The doctors were not able to determine from the ultrasound if there were multiple aneurysms and stressed that I should get the CT scan done sooner than later. They also wanted me see my cardiovascular surgeon so that he can review my scan and set up a date for surgery. We set up the surgery date for Friday, March 20th because the aneurysm was 5.7cm and 4.9cm was the level where it would need repair, so mine was 0.8cm over the limit. They scheduled the date for Friday, March 20th, but coronavirus got serious around the middle of March and the doctors told me that my surgery became an elective surgery, but my family as well as myself were dumbfounded as to how they could think this was an elective surgery. So my doctors told me that my surgery that might be delayed but if there were any issues that I needed to go to the ER right away. It just so happened that the morning of the original surgery date Friday, March 20th around 3:00am I was having some discomfort in my stomach by where my aneurysm is, so my brother took me to the ER and dropped me off as he was not allowed to stay with me due to COVID-19. The doctors came and stated that they may not be able to do the surgery as it was elective, and I told them that the pain was so intense, and I did not want to go home and possibly die, so the doctors then said they would do the surgery Saturday morning. The doctors gave me some pain medication to stabilize my pain during this time. The surgery finally took place on Saturday, March 21st around 1:00pm and took about 4 hours. I ended up spending the rest of the day Saturday and most of the day Sunday in the ICU. They transferred me to my own room where they monitored me for another day and a half, and because I was wanting to just get out and start living again, I was on them to let me out so I could. I just had to get cleared from occupational therapy as well as physical therapy so that they would let me go home. Monday, March 23rd they released me to go home at noon.

The money from this fundraiser will be used to pay for my multiple CT scans, cardiovascular surgeon, doctors, labs, anesthesiologist, operating room, operating room staff, medications, ICU, recovery room and hospital stay.

Thank you all so much and God bless each and every one of you.
