Just over a year ago, Marine Officer Frank DiPietro suffered a catastrophic lower leg injury while off duty. After almost 13 months of multiple surgeries, rehab and therapy, his team of world renowned doctors have decided that his lower leg will need to be amputated.
Frank is a 13 year vet of GPD and highly decorated member of our Marine Section. Last year he and his partner were honored as Officers of The Year and Clarke Award winners for their heroics on the water. Much more importantly, Frank is a dedicated and loving husband and father.
We have started this page in the hope that we can raise money to help Frank and his family deal with the financial challenges they are facing as the holiday season approaches.
We will be hosting 2 fundraising events in our effort to help support Frank and his family. The first will be our Silver Shield Association Holiday Party at Prime One Eleven in Trumbull on 12/10 and the second will be a 10-13 fundraiser at Zody's in Stamord on 1/14. "10-13" is the traditional police radio code for "Officer Needs Assistance".
