Frank Smigelski Memorial
As 2019 came to a close, Frank Smigelski, a member of the FAA Office of Airports (ARP) succumbed to pneumonia leaving behind his wife, Shelley and son, Turner. Frank’s passing was sudden and unexpected and has left an enormous void in ARP. Frank’s professional legacy goes beyond FAA, he worked with and influenced many environmental and aviation specialists through his roles.
Frank was more than a colleague, he was an expert in his field, a mentor to new Environmental Specialists as well as the more experienced, but most importantly Frank was a friend. He was always willing to lighten a colleague’s burden by dropping what he was doing and finding answers when asked and he often spoke of his family and his desire to support his son through his last years of high school and into college. As friends of Frank’s, we have established this memorial fund in an effort to lessen the burden being carried by Shelley and Turner in the wake of this monumental shift in the course of their lives.
Thank you for your contribution and sentiments.
