Frank Simily Cancer Relief Fund

Donation protected

Frank Simily, father to Lindsay and Sarah Simily (Arndt) was diagnosed with bladder cancer in April of this year. It has been a long exhausting 6 months for Frank and his family. Even-though, Frank had insurance, getting the correct treatment and the right doctors was difficult. Approvals would not go through, botchy doctors, and getting appointments in the right time frame was a living nightmare. Thank goodness for City of Hope who took over his treatment this summer. Frank was initially told he would not be able to keep his bladder, but through the help of his amazing Doctor Chan and City of Hope he was properly diagnosed and treated. He just finished immunotherapy (BCG) and will be receiving his (hopefully) final surgery this week. (HALLELUJAH) If anyone knows Frank he has kept a smile on his face and stayed strong for all of us. He is a fighter!

Unfortunately, through his surgeries and treatments Frank has not been able to work since May of this year. He is a painter for LAUSD and public employee. So, he does not qualify for state disability, so when his sick time ran out in July he was not paid. Luckily, he qualifies for some 50% pay through the District.  Not working through treatment leaves him with barely enough to cover the house payment and utilities. If anyone knows Frank they know he would give the shirt off his back for anyone in a time of need. He has worked for the last 42 years to provide for his daughters and family. To see him down and struggling is really difficult. We just want him to focus on healing and getting better. We do not want him to worry about having the money for groceries and basic needs. To add to this Frank was supposed to return to work this week and looking forward to retirement in the next 6 months. However, he slipped and fell breaking his leg this week cleaning the house. This was a freak accident and will now keep him out of work for another 8 weeks. Not to mention being down and out during the holidays.

We are so thankful for all of the love and support through this from friends and family. Any and all donations are so much appreciated big or small. Every little bit will help. If you want to personally mail him a gift card or drop off groceries, I am sure he would also appreciate that. Please message his daughters Sarah Arndt or Lindsay Simily to get his contact information.

Please continue to send prayers for Frank during this time of healing.
