Support Frank's Family Transition and Expenses

Donation protected
This fund is to help support Frank Ivory Chattman's family as they transition from his death to a place of peace.

The funds will be used to help with memorial costs, loss of income and therapy and care for his 4 year old son, Gianfranco Chattman.  The costs are very high and every little donation will have a big impact in helping G and the family in understanding and coming to terms with a tragic loss that he is still too young to comprehend.

Please take some time to read about Frank's amazing life and the impact that he made on so many of us.

Frank Ivory Chattman was one of the rare individuals you meet in your life who walks in and refuses to leave it the same way that he found it. He had an infectious smile that always managed to light up a room.
He was a truly selfless friend and family member that persisted in finding ways to motivate, teach, support and challenge everyone to be the best version of themselves.

Frank was a free spirit and was always looking for some new challenge, often finding anything an average person would try to be too tame, and easily conquered. Finding a suitable challenge for his talents and overcoming it gave him a sense of accomplishment, strength, self-confidence, and allowed Frank to see himself in the same light that we all saw him.

Frank had so many accomplishments throughout the many phases of his life:

He was the top goalie in Idar-Oberstein, Germany, and led his team to the highest levels of competition at a very young age.

He was a marine, cleverly nicknamed "Shadow", after chasing his shadow while on guard...

He learned and excelled at his trade, and was a perfectionist, leaving his craftsman mark in many of our homes and all across San Diego.

He learned to break wild mustangs before we really knew that he could ride a horse...

He hiked the entire Pacific Coast Trail with his beloved dog, Bailey, for his first real hike...

He kayaked back and forth from San Diego to Catalina Island, even though he hated the water and was admittedly, "a real bad swimmer."

He became an important figure in San Diego's bull riding community and advocated for youth programs working with the Optimist Club and the Bulls Only Rodeo.

He taught himself to sail a 35' boat on his own, with the goal of sailing to Mexico and to Hawaii.

Frank never backed down, and he faced each challenge with a wry smile and a witty sense of humor. He was reliable, hard-working, loyal, adventurous and loving.

With all of these accomplishments, there was none that filled his heart with the pure love that he found on September 30, 2015, with the birth of his son, Gianfranco.

The look in Frank’s eyes changed from day one, and when they were together, the light in his heart shined through. With Gianfranco, Frank was at ease and his happiest. He loved his son more than himself.

Frank fought with some of the inner demons that we all fight with, but his fight was much greater than most. Frank battled with bipolar disorder from a young age. Not many people knew about his condition because they tended to see his strong, confident and happy side. He worked every day, trying to find the balance that many of us take for granted and tried to overcome it on his own terms. He fought to the end and was taken from us far too early. Although we all deeply grieve his loss, he is now at peace and is no longer battling this debilitating condition.

Even so, a life without Frank is less vibrant and gray.
