Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February the city of Krakow in Poland has taken in over 150,000 refuges.

Many arrive, tired and hungry, with little more than they stand up in.

I am Frank, a seventy-nine-year-old Whittington resident. I was former Chair of the Parish Council, Magistrate, Community First Responder and Headteacher of the Park Special School in Tamworth.

In May I went to Krakow with some friends to undertake voluntary work in a centre providing free clothing to new arrivals.

We also took money raised at home, to buy clothing items that were in short supply. This was cheaper than taking them from the U.K. Some of the money was used to provide food to a shop in the main railway station giving free food to newly arrived people.

My wife and I intend to go again in September.

On 29th July. I am undertaking a Wing Walk on a bi-plane to raise more money for clothing and food and have established this “Go Fund Me” page to receive any financial help you feel able to offer.

All money donated will be used to support refugees. I will pay for the wing walk, travel costs and accommodation expenses in Krakow.

Receipts will be obtained for all goods bought and they will be published on Facebook. In the unlikely event of all money not being used I will donate the remainder to people or charities doing similar work.
