With the help of friends, my parents, Frank (Lich) and Angela (Sweet-Lich), were fortunate to flee the explosive wildfire that ravaged their quiet Klamath River community... and my family home. We are so happy they are safe, but sadly my parents have lost everything and now are faced with how to take the steps to restart. They are numb and heartbroken. Having lived there for 40 years, this home was everything to them... a source of comfort and serenity as they have navigated living a life of simple means, yet with quite challenging daily routines.

As most of you know Angela has not only been Frank’s partner and wife since 1974, she has been his primary caregiver for many years as his autoimmune disease, MS, has rendered him disabled, immobile, and dependent on full time care at home. This home... in this peaceful community that has been devastated by fire in a matter of hours.

It's still so difficult to digest, as we consider next steps. There are many large pieces of equipment and accessibilities limitations as we determine where we can find a new place to accommodate them and their special circumstances, at the same time hoping we can create a space with some familiar sense of comfort and quiet again.

Frank and Angela have such gratitude to all their unbelievably kind and supportive friends, and we appreciate any small contribution anyone feels moved to make to help us to reassemble their lives.

It’s all quite overwhelming to suddenly lose your cherished belongings and place where you made so many memories but they are safe and staying positive with the support of wonderful people around them.
