Francois' battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and Leukemia

We are raising money to support a special person, friend and colleague, Francois.

Francois has faced many medical challenges over the past 2 years. Surviving two heart attacks in 2022 before undergoing a triple bypass surgery. After a long recovery post-surgery Francois was feeling grateful and optimistic that these challenges were behind him.

In 2023 Francois was hospitalised for 3 weeks due to heart failure caused by a blood clot in the left ventricle in the heart. While in hospital Francois suffered a stroke losing some sight in his left eye. Francois continued receiving ongoing medical support and monitoring for his heart condition but again, Francois remained grateful and positive, counting his blessings at every opportunity.

Throughout May/April 2024 Francois noticed a lump on the left side gland in his neck. After noticing its significant growth Francois visited his doctor. An initial biopsy showed no cancer cells however, it was recommended that Francois should have the lump surgically removed. Once removed the growth was sent for further testing which confirmed Francois had Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

After this diagnosis Francois underwent various testing which led to an additional cancer diagnosis of Leukemia, a rare combination with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Through all of this, all the challenges he has faced, he has shown up to work every day, with a smile on his face, his cheeky humor intact and his overwhelming gratitude for the support offered to him. A true reflection of the special person he is.

Francois begins his chemotherapy on the 19th of July 2024. Due to his heart condition, the 16-week treatment plan has been tailored to minimise the impact on his heart and lungs but will require Francois to be admitted to hospital for 3 days each fortnight.

Francois' prognosis is 60% chance of total recovery from both cancers. For anyone who knows Francois, and what he has already overcome, you could confidently say Francois will be in that 60%.

Our hope is to raise money for Francois to assist in medical expenses, time taken off work, meals when he is too unwell to cook, hospital parking, anything that takes some stress from him, allowing him to focus on taking care of himself.

Francois has studied a Degree in Theology and has relied on his faith to help him through the medical challenges he has faced so far. Francois is a kind and caring person who would do anything to help those around him and will be so appreciative of any and all donations received.
