The Story

Our Dad, Frank, is two weeks away from his 92nd birthday. He is a man of limitless love—a devoted husband and the primary carer for our Mum, Betty (also 92). His health is poor. He has survived two strokes, three heart attacks, and kidney disease, and is currently living with three types of cancer. Despite his ill-health, Frank has spent his life looking out for his neighbours and his community.

The Crisis

Recently, Frank was targeted by a sophisticated "recovery scam." These heartless scammers "groomed" him over months, preying on his desire to provide for his children and grandchildren. By the time we were made aware of the scam, they hadn't just stolen his savings of around £10,000 —they had also left him with an additional £20,000 in debt through credit cards and overdrafts they manipulated him into using.

At nearly 92, Frank’s savings accounts are empty. His spirit, usually so resilient, is crushed.

Why We Need Your Help

Because the scammers used complex methods like cryptocurrency and secondary PayPal accounts, the banks and authorities have offered little hope, though we are still trying our best to recover the money. The police informed us they would not be pursuing an investigation, leaving Frank to shoulder this massive financial burden alone at a time when he should be focused on his health and Mum’s care.

We know times are tough for everyone. We are starting this fund to:

* Clear the predatory debt (£20,000) so Frank can live without fear of collectors.

* Restore a portion of his savings to ensure he and Betty have the care they need.

* Show Frank that despite this "evil," the world is still full of the kind of "good" he has practiced his whole life.

A Warning to Others

Dad was targeted by a woman claiming to be from a "fund recovery firm." She weaponized his kindness, trusting nature, and lack of tech-savviness. If you have elderly loved ones, please:

* Check their Wills, Trusts, and LPAs now—don't wait until a crisis to find the flaws.

* Consider setting phones to "known callers only."

* Talk to them. Tell them no matter how professional or kind a stranger sounds, they must call you first.
