Hey friends,
For those who don't know me, my name is Bree Adams. I am a close friend of Francie. She is my chosen family.
For those who don't know, Francie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2020 during Covid. She had a challenging but victorious battle. She went into remission in 2021.
This week, Francie was diagnosed with a secondary cancer. Lymphoma. While this was not expected or news we wanted, a second battle with cancer begins.
The good news is that Francie has spent the last two years becoming the "healthiest her." She knew immediately something was wrong and was proactive and caught this lymphoma as early as humanly possible, stage 1. Her oncologist considers her an excellent candidate for success in beating cancer a second time! All the news someone with cancer hopes to hear.
However, this road still comes with chemotherapy, radiation, extensive tests, and substantial medical bills not fully covered by her insurance. It also means working will be paused in many areas as she receives treatments over the next few months. Plus, a restart of her deductible during treatment as January will reset it all again.
I aim to help raise funds to cover her deductibles and some cushion for living expenses so she can focus on a second successful full recovery. As an independent business owner, Francie is the primary source of income.
Her first round of cancer came at the peak of Covid in 2020. During this time, Francie endured cancer with business primarily stopped, and her husband was laid off the same month as her diagnosis. They would not let me set up a GoFundMe then. Instead, they relied on their savings accounts and retirement funds, which were depleted. It carried them through the first Cancer battle. It is not there for this round.
I had to push a bit for her to let me do this. She does not want to be pitied in any way. Having the ability to rest and allow the body to fight and heal is key. She will work through her cancer treatments as she is able. I hope she has to work LESS to truly put her energy into healing and limit the amount of debt that will happen because our healthcare system is expensive and broken.
I know many of us have been supported, loved, helped, and inspired by Francie for years, and I want to be here for her. This is a way we can come together and give her support that helps her heal and recover.
