Frances Garcia - Fundraiser

For those of you who know Frances, what you’re about to read will sound very familiar to you because you know exactly who she is and how precious is in every sense. For those of you who don’t know her, you probably know someone like her or will wish you did. Either way, thank you for taking the time to read a little about her and why we are asking for your help and prayers.

We first met Frances when she was a teenager. Her kind, gentle and lively spirit instantly made us feel like she had always been part of our family. She fit right in! Over the years we got to know her family better and they became an extension of our family. Frances brought our families together…that is what she does, she brings people together.

Frances always has a smile on her face, even when times are tough. Although, you wouldn’t know it because she is always smiling. Oh and she loves to laugh…and when she does, it is contagious! She is one of the most caring, compassionate and selfless persons I know. She will go out of her way to help those in need even when doing so means sacrificing her own wellbeing. It doesn’t matter if someone is family or not, she will do whatever it takes to help others.

About a month ago Frances got sick and had to go to the emergency room. After several doctor consults and tests, it was discovered that she has advanced ovarian cancer. However, due to not having insurance she has had trouble getting the proper care at several hospitals and obtaining an appointment with an Oncologist to establish a course of action. She was told by a doctor at one of the hospitals that she needed chemotherapy before she could have surgery to remove the masses, but the chemotherapy was never initiated. The cancer is causing fluid buildup in her abdomen and because she doesn’t have an established Oncologist, she was having to resort to going to the ER for relief. They remove the fluid and then release her. Most recently she developed in infection after having 4 liters of fluid removed from her abdomen once again. She was admitted to DHR for treatment of the infection and further testing.

By the grace of God and with the help of sweet Sister at CHRISTUS Health we were able to connect Frances with a doctor in San Antonio that was able to take her case and start her on the treatment she so desperately needs. After a week at DHR, on Sunday, May 26th, she transferred to CHRISTUS Santa Rosa in San Antonio. On May 27th, she received her first Chemotherapy session which is the start of her fight against cancer.

She has been there for so many and now it is out turn to be there for her. We can never repay all that she has done for us, but we will try our best to support and care for her in any way possible.

We need your help! If you can find it in your heart to make a donation to help her in her fight against cancer, it would mean so much. Any amount, big or small, can make a big difference. Most importantly, we ask that you please join us in praying for her.  As, my sweet Frances always says, “The power of prayers are so powerful”.

Thank you and God bless!
