Frames for the Frontline

With the current COVID-19 pandemic hospitals are in need of protective gear. I am working with Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) to produce face shield frames for hospital workers. Cottage Hospital is requesting 10,000 face shields to be delivered by April 20th, 2020 (2 weeks away!). This face shield was designed by Budmen Industries and modified by UCSB.

My current goal is to produce 1,000 of the frames needed with each one costing $1.50 in material and electricity. Your donation will be used to purchase the material needed to print the frames. If enough money is raised I would also like to purchase an additional printer(s), so I can achieve my goal, and surpass producing 1,000 frames. If this campaign grows enough, I will be able increase my production to offer support to other hospitals.

A little about myself:
I am John Bathel, a 34-year-old Santa Barbaran. I am currently studying Industrial Engineering at Cal Poly Pomona, but with the #shelterathome I have been back in Santa Barbara with my family. 3D printing started as a hobby of mine 3 years ago, but has also become a large portion of my job as a Manufacturing Engineer.
