Frame the Future: Supporting Student Creativity at UMCHS
Established in 2017 in Orange County, CA, Unity Middle College High School (UMCHS) has already left a significant mark on the community. With fewer than 100 students, predominantly from underserved areas like Orange, Anaheim, and Santa Ana, UMCHS provides unique opportunities often unavailable in their neighborhoods. Approaching its third year (24/25 school year), the photography program has been developing – but we still need your help! As a small, low-income charter school, resources are scarce. But with donations from the community, we hope to provide enough camera equipment, tripods, editing tools, photoshop subscriptions etc to make the course as dynamic, engaging, and inspiring as possible for the students.
Our small class size allows for unique experiences, like weekly photo field trips where students learn and practice skills in the real world. We combine classroom learning, hands-on practice, and post-production work, culminating in constructive critiques. It is not just a high school elective, but a course that teaches life skills and methods for viewing the world through a different, creative lens.
With your support, we aim to acquire the following essential equipment to enhance the course:
2 Canon Rebel T7 cameras (approx $500 dollars per camera)
3 tripods (approx $22 per tripod)
7 Photoshop subscriptions (19.99/monthly, total $1,540)
2 additional computers ($500 per computer)
By contributing, you're not just funding a class, you're investing in life skills for these students. Thank you for considering supporting our cause.
