My sister, Myss Brazel, has been fighting for her life since February 2016. That’s when she first began dialysis. What many people don’t realize is that dialysis is not just draining, it’s relentless. It’s a full-time fight, a daily sacrifice, and it takes a toll on every part of the body.

After more than seven years of holding on with quiet strength, we finally received a glimpse of hope: Loma Linda Transplant Clinic contacted her with the news that she’s now eligible for a kidney transplant. This moment should feel like light breaking through, but there’s another battle still unfolding.

Because of the long-term effects of dialysis, Myss Eboni now suffers from severe osteoporosis. Her bones have become so fragile they’re like eggshells. She’s endured nine fractures, from her hips to her ankles, and now both wrists. Imagine trying to stand, let alone walk, with bones so brittle they can shatter from a misstep.

Her doctors urgently prescribed Prolia, a medication that can help stop the bone loss and restore some stability. It’s just one shot every six months. That’s it. One injection to slow the damage, to give her back the chance to walk, to heal, to live with a little less pain.

But despite the urgency, her insurance continues to deny the medication. Multiple doctors have submitted requests, and each time it’s rejected. Meanwhile, her body breaks down more and more. She needs access to the treatment her doctors know will help.
