Fra Brian Ludwig needs your help

Often, It's very difficult for people to ask for help when they are in a bad situation. I have known Fra Brian Ludwig since the Fall of 1986 when we were freshman at Rutgers. Brian pledged in the Fall, I pledged in the Spring. After school we went our separate ways, but in the last few years, Brian has been reconnecting with the fraternity and this evening he reached out and asked me for help in starting a gofundme for him. So, here is his story, it could happen to any of us....
My life took a drastic turn in December 2011 when on my way to work, a car forced me off the road and into several trees, destroying my car and leaving me with both legs broken, a broken hip, concussion, skull fracture, and broken ribs. I was hospitalized for 5 weeks and worked from there and later home for the first 4 months. unfortunately, the initial operation did not sufficiently correct my injuries and i had 3 follow up surgeries over the next 3 years. To repair my femur a rod was inserted and a bone graft from my pelvis was required to mend the bone.
Unfortunately for me a staph infection in my right leg forced me back out of work and required several more operations including the removal of a large portion of my right fibula. When i was ready to return from disability i was informed that i no longer had a job.
Over the next several years I desperately tried to regain my health doing physical therapy and landed a couple of jobs at much lower salaries than i had been previously earning. I wound up losing each due to issues with my disability or a new health issue and was clearly a violation of my rights, but with little recourse available due to the short time employed.
I now am battling with rheumatoid arthritis and possibly other forms in a number of my joints making any kind of activity extremely painful. As a result of being disabled from the accident and the arthritis, finding a job has become extremely difficult and it will take a minimum of 6 months to a year to get any type of Social Security Disability benefits.
While feeling blessed to survive this accident and ultimately becoming a better person, i have lost many things. Besides losing the job I loved, my wife of 25 years and I decided to get divorced and she was my sole source of income, but could not afford to pay me alimony and I refused to ask.
I really don't like to ask, but i feel no other choice in my current situation but to ask for some financial help to allow me to try to keep my bills paid as I continue to try to find substantive work and apply for permanent disability. I will try to personally pay everyone back that is able to help and appreciate all help provided.
