Help Unite Service Dog Rudy With Dana

Hi everyone!

My name is Dana and I am currently a music performance major in college  Thank you all in advance for your help in helping me bring Rudy home!  Below is a little bit about me and what Rudy will help me with❤️

  I am starting this gofund me account in order to raise money to acquire a service dog. After several years of extensive research and consideration, my family, doctors and I have decided that a service dog is necessary for me and would greatly benefit my quality of life as well as enable me to complete my music studies. In 2022, I unexpectedly had to have 4 surgeries for a rare condition called Thoracic Outlet Syndrome after I tried multiple conservative treatments.  I was diagnosed with high functioning autism and several other disabilities before the surgeries which first began my quest into researching more about service dogs to help me.  After my surgeries, the continued struggles from that solidified just how much a service dog would be absolutely life changing for me.  Given all of my family’s medical bills due to so many surgeries, we are asking for a helping hand in making this possible for me. The amount listed is the estimated cost of getting Rudy in addition to paying for the trainers to fly out to my college in Colorado and do team training with me for a week. Any donations above this amount will be directly used to help cover Rudy’s vet bills, food, gear, and any other necessary expenses that occur with having a service dog. Rudy will perform tasks customized to my needs to help me live the best possible quality of life. 

What is a service dog and how will having one help me?   A service dog is a dog that has been extensively trained to perform tasks to help an individual with a disabilit(ies) live a more fulfilling life.  Some tasks that Rudy will be doing for me are Deep Pressure Therapy, lowering my heart rate, waking me up in the morning due to necessary medications, interrupting and mitigating panic attacks, provide tactile stimulation and more!

In fact, the lead trainer has placed over hundreds of successful service dog teams for individuals and organizations across the world. After speaking with the lead trainer/owner, they currently have the perfect Labrador Retriever named Rudy that is starting his final phase of training for me! Labradors are known as one of the best breeds for service work. I am very excited to start this new chapter of my life with Rudy along my side to live an independent and fulfilling life.  Please feel free to private message me if you want more information!
