With broken hearts, we mourn the sudden loss of Fr. Demetri and the enormous sorrow shared by all who loved him.
Both Fr. Demetri and Presvytera Eleni have lived a life of servitude. As priest and presvytera who have served parishes in Portland, San Diego (El Cajon), and Florida they have touched the lives of countless people in their years of ministry together.
As Eleni shared in her last CaringBridge entry, Fr. Demetri “personified love in his very being, he walked the talk like nobody else, and who marched to his own drumbeat, at any cost.”
It is unimaginable to experience such a tragic and sudden loss of a spouse, father, brother, son, friend, and priest. During this unprecedented time in history, we are unable to physically be together and give the kind of loving support we wish was possible. It is our hope that friends of the Tsigas’ will want to show their love and condolences by contributing towards this fund to assist with funeral and burial expenses as well as upcoming immediate and eventual needs. Any additional funds not used will be directed to two charities that are inextricably part of this family's fiber; the St. Katherine Chapel Fund and the Preeclampsia Foundation.
Let us acknowledge the selflessness and generosity so effortlessly given by Fr. Demetri and Eleni and return it with our offers of support for them, their children Jordan, Jonathan, and Nikonia (born to heaven), and the causes that they are so passionate about and deeply invested in.
“Well done good and faithful servant." It is now our turn to be of service to their beautiful family.
