My name is Milo Maher. Over the last year I have gone all in on triathlon, completing my first full Ironman this past October with a finishing time of 10 hours and 35 minutes. The race includes a 2.4 Mile swim, 112 mile bike, and a full marathon to cap things off.
This year I plan on racing Ironman Lake Placid July 19th, in New York with the goal of going under ten hours and qualifying for the Ironman World Championships. However, I want this race to be about something bigger than just my own performance.
In 2023 I lost one of the biggest mentors in my life to Alzheimer’s disease my grandfather, or as I called him, “Pappy.” Losing him was one of the hardest things I’ve faced in my young adult life. Watching someone you love slowly lose their memories and independence is something no family should have to experience.
That’s why I am using this race as an opportunity to raise money for Alzheimer’s research and awareness.
Eighty percent of the money raised will be donated to the American Alzheimer’s Foundation to support research and programs that help people and families affected by this disease. The remaining twenty percent will help cover the costs associated with racing Ironman Lake Placid, including entry fees, travel, and race nutrition.
Together we can turn this race into something meaningful, helping advance research, supporting families affected by Alzheimer’s, and raising awareness for a disease that impacts millions.
Anything is deeply appreciated.
Much love,
Milo Maher
