Hello! We are Alvin, Armie, and Ana Almazan- and we are fundraising for the oldest of the bunch, Adrian Almazan. Our brother, better known to us as Kuya (which stands for older brother in Tagalog), has been recently diagnosed with Advanced-stage Liver Cirrhosis at the early age of 37.
Cirrhosis of the liver is the late stage of liver scarring. This happens when the liver becomes injured and tries to repair itself. Each time the liver repairs itself, scar tissues form around it. As this progresses and more and more scar tissue form, the liver becomes unable to function properly. Advanced-stage Liver Cirrhosis is life-threatening.
Cirrhosis of the liver is uncurbable, but if treated in time, further damage can be controlled. It is unclear as to how Adrian could be diagnosed with this at such an early age. We are currently waiting for the completion of his blood work sample to get a clearer answer as to how and why. Because of this diagnosis and how far along the liver cirrhosis is, Adrian has been advised to seek a liver transplant off-island immediately.
Our brother is not one to seek donations, and did not even think of suggesting a GoFundMe page for a fundraiser. So we decided it was something that needed to be done as a liver transplant by itself is costly, and now we add in other factors of traveling off-island, Adrian obtaining residency in the states for at least six months or more than a year to even be able to be placed on a liver transplant waiting list, and so forth.
So with this being said, we kindly ask for any donation you may be able to give. Our brother has always been the "help-when-needed-and-no-questions-asked" kinda guy, he has always been the go-to person for whatever problem may arise, and now he is needing our help more than anything. He is not one to ask for help, he is a strong person, and so, we are asking for help. Any type of donation would mean so much to us and to Adrian, so we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. This truly means a lot to our family.
