As many of you may have seen by my sisters posts, my nephew Brennan (age 7) is very sick right now. After multiple visits to the doctors, tests and retesting, an er visit, being transferred to another hospital and that turning into a hospital stay, it turns out Brennan has an abnormality in his lungs and a bacteria infection in his bloodstream (MRSA). It’s been heartbreaking to watch Brennan be in so much pain when he is moved in the tiniest way. His fever is still fighting the meds and his joints are very swollen due to build up of the bacteria. They are keeping a close eye on his heart as he has developed a murmur. While this is something that normally is not a crazy cause for concern, with the MRSA in his bloodstream there is potential it could cause an infection there as well. Thankfully he is scheduled for surgery to flush out his joints, which will lead to a long road to recovery. They are also looking at putting in a chest tube in his lung where the bacteria is. While MRSA can be treated with antibiotics when it is less severe, it also tends to be antibiotic resistant.

With all of that, I want to raise any cent possible to provide some sort of relief or at least take a little stress away during this time. I only put the goal as 2,500 because we don’t know what this will cost in the long run. Ambulance rides are not cheap. Hospital stays and surgery’s are not cheap. Hospital food is not cheap. Choosing between staying with your child in the hospital or going to work is not easy. Leaving your two other children with family is not easy.

So if there’s a dollar or two to spare, it would not be wasted. Medical bills are already adding up. The gas driving from Delton and Hastings to GR. Or maybe even a coffee for some sense of sanity.
