Born at 24 weeks and weighing 15-ounces, Laiya Grace had only a 7 percent chance to simply walk or talk. She is now a thriving 8 year old that has one big prayer; getting a forever home!
My friend and her daughter are looking for a their forever home! While knowing them for the last 4 years, I’ve been able to witness how hard Charity works to keep Laiya well, educated, and well rounded. Their housing struggles are not due to Charity not doing what she has to do, but the unpredictable circumstances they face every day. Please open your heart and ears to hearing their story!

Shortly after beginning my career in the field of accounting, life took an unexpected twist. I met my very first niece months before her due date. Being born extremely premature meant that Laiya had to fight to survive from the first breath she inhaled into her tiny lungs. Three years later, life took another major shift; I went from auntie to mommy in a matter of moments.
In October 2015, I pursued and was awarded custody of Laiya. The life that I diligently worked for came tumbling down. Becoming a single mom by choice was difficult. The current challenge that Laiya and I are working through is purchasing a home. We need help with our home purchase because our medical circumstances are beyond my control. Though I landed a job working from home, our excessive hospital visits, medical appointments, sick days, and the daily upkeep makes working consistently a challenge. I quickly learned that no matter how much education you have, life can happen to us all in ways we never expected.
I realize that my financial position has changed significantly since leaving corporate. Currently, I am not in a position to purchase a traditionally stick built home as I planned. I have considered all affordable options out there from tiny homes, RVs, and manufactured (mobile) homes. We are open to whatever stand-alone home these resources will allow us to purchase.
