My name is Anthoneil Fairclough, and I never imagined I would be creating this page under such heartbreaking circumstances. I recently traveled to Jamaica to attend my grandmother’s funeral — a time that was already emotionally heavy for my family. What was meant to be a moment of closure and reflection unexpectedly turned into a nightmare.

While I was still in Jamaica, Hurricane Melissa struck with brutal force. I witnessed the devastation firsthand. Homes were ripped apart. Roofs disappeared into the wind. Trees that once shaded our yards were left stripped and broken. Families hid in fear as walls shook and water flooded through once-safe spaces.

Many of my family members, friends, and neighbors have lost everything — their homes, their possessions, and their sense of security. Some are now living under makeshift structures, salvaging whatever scraps they can find. What shocked me most was the helplessness that settled in after the storm passed… because the damage wasn’t just physical — it was emotional, spiritual, and economic.

I found myself trapped in Jamaica for days. Roads were blocked, communication was limited, and basic supplies became scarce. I saw parents trying to protect their children from the rain with pieces of zinc. Mothers trying to dry soaked clothes on broken walls. Families sharing whatever food they had left. Yet, despite the unimaginable hardship, the strength and resilience of our people shone through.

This experience changed me forever.

I couldn’t walk away knowing so many people I love — along with countless others — were left to rebuild their lives from nothing. That is why I’ve created this fundraiser: to help support those affected by Hurricane Melissa who urgently need housing, food, clean water, clothing, and rebuilding supplies.
