FamilyPoint Resources engages our community in supportive relationships that build hope, meet needs, and transform lives. We accomplish our mission by working toward mutual growth through listening, playing, and learning.
We are currently gearing up for another run at Olympic Gold and are calling on community support for the young athletes of FPR SPEED. This season we have tripled in size going from 19 athletes in 2015 to 64. One of our largest connections with our team has been with the refugee community that has made the Memorial/Spring Branch area their new home. With the new additions FPR SPEED now has 25 of the Top Ten runners in the city in their respective age groups.
With that said, more success and increase in numbers leads to a need for more fundraising. Family Point provides financial aid for 85% of the kids who participate in enrichment programming through community donations and local grants. The athletes have been able to raise $5,443 towards our Olympic Travel Goal but we are still short $6,557 of our goal. If we meet our goal we will be able to provide 30 athletes and their parents with the opportunity to compete and watch their child compete in the 2016 USA National Junior Olympics. It was an amazing journey last year for the kids and it would be even more magical if their parents are able to witness their success this year.
