If you know Alyssa, you know kindness, compassion, and empathy. She is truly one of the greatest people I know.
Unfortunately, cancer doesn't discriminate based on kindness, and genetics seem to deal out battles we wish we didn't have to fight.
In 2022, Alyssa was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time. Her treatment consisted of a series of the most brutal surgeries I have seen. Margins were as clean as they could be and she was able to heal and thrive. Cancer doesn't discriminate based on general health either though.
Last week Alyssa went into urgent care for "gallbladder pain" and left an ultrasound days later with a completely unexpected finding. She has an "innumerable amount of lesions on her liver, indicative of metastatic disease".
After several doctors appointments, Alyssa has been diagnosed, again, with cancer. This upcoming week is full of scans and appointments that will hopefully give more clarity as to where the disease started and where it is located. With this, she will get more details on her treatment, but we anticipate all the bells and whistles this time around.
In anticipation of all of these appointments, I have set up a gofundme in the hope that we can help smoothly transition Alyssa from working full-time, to being able to take a leave of absence and focus on healing and being with family. Cancer is expensive and the bills add up.
Please consider helping Alyssa and her family with this burden. Any contribution helps significantly
