Hello! To get things started, my wife Katy and I have 3 kids and live in East Milton. We are originally from south Louisiana but reside here due to me being in the Air Force stationed at Hurlburt Field. Our youngest son, Colden recently went through a life threatening illness started by E.Coli. He was first brought to Sacred Heart out in Pensacola where they found out that his kidneys had completely shut down. He was then air lifted to Shands Childrens hospital in Gainesville Florida 5 hours from here. Luckily we had family in town and they were able to take our other two kids Beaux and Jordyn. My wife Katy and I decided to drive to Gainesville when colden was in the air with just the clothes on our backs. There we found out he has something called Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome. His kidneys went down to 0% and his heart went to 20%. Colden spent 37 days in that hospital. He went through dialysis. About 20 different medications. He even coded. Then the talks of an experimental medicine came about. Katy and I signed for it as Colden wasn’t getting anywhere with his health. The medicine ended up saving his life. Colden had to learn how to walk and talk again as he was put under and on a breathing tube for 10 days of his time. Thankfully Colden is home. His heart is at 100% and his kidneys are at 43%. He is living with stage 3 CKD. He just became a make a wish kid! We are asking to help spread his story anyway that you can. Colden has 2 different medications he has to be on which are fully paid for by the military but the shipping of these meds are complicated as they are specialty meds. The big thing about us putting this out there is just to help spread his story as it is considered a rare disease. He has a Facebook page as well. Thank you so much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you all. God Bless ❤️
