Foxtrot Medical Emergency - Sick puppy needs help!

Donation protected

Update: Foxtrot is truly overwhelmed with your donations to his medical fund. Pam and I are so thankful as well. We have reached the goal, and just want to extend our appreciation to everyone for their kindness, generosity, good wishes and prayers!

The puppy is sorry he scared everyone so badly and made daddy drive him to 2 different veterinary offices though snow storms. He simply did not know what got in to him!

Foxtrot appears recovered to his old self now and sends you all a happy *woof*!

-------------
This week Foxtrot, my wife's therapy dog, love of her life and member of our family, got into something he should not have.

We first noticed him not eating, and then in distress, whining pitifully. When Foxtrot stops eating, we knew something was very wrong.  He is a 14 pound chihuahua / corgi mix, and we have had him since he was rescued from a puppy mill in 2016. He has been my wife’s constant companion since then.

When we first noticed Foxtrot in distress and throwing up white foam we tried to determine the issue, but it became clear he was very lethargic and totally uninterested in his food and unable to settle down.

This all happened on a weekend when his regular Veterinary was unavailable, so we brought him to the Emergency Vet for immediate care. 2 sets of X-rays and a full checkup has determined that there are some foreign bodies in his stomach and colon. The vets worked on him overnight and tried to make him comfortable. By the next morning it was clear he was not passing the object, and he would need an ultrasound on his stomach and intestines. This required us to transport him to a second facility. That confirmed there was a blockage in his stomach. At this point the Emergency Vet bills have run $3,500 - The numbers Pam was being quoted over the phone. (Update: A portion of this has been refunded, so we are dropping the campaign target to be more in line with charges.)

The recommendation from the vet was to put poor little Foxtrot under anesthesia and have his stomach endoscoped. The Vet has determined there is a foreign mass in his tummy and is working on trying to remove it. This procedure alone is another $4,100. (Update: This was indeed the Worse Case number charged to our credit card on the day we took Foxtrot to the second vet office. Now that it has been invoiced, a significant portion was refunded, so we have dropped the campaign total to the actual figure.  Apparently this is how emergency Vet services work.)

We are asking for what ever help you can provide to assist with these unexpected bills, as there was never any question we were going to go ahead and do what’s best for our little guy. Foxtrot is a dear member of our family, the King of the Keweenaw, and we thank you for any help with his life and recovery. If you can’t help directly, we appreciate all the good thoughts and prayers.
