Fox Williams 3 Peaks Challenge

Tax deductible
Thank you for visiting the Fox Williams team fundraising page for the National Three Peaks Challenge.

The Challenge involves walking the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. The challenge starts in Scotland at Ben Nevis, which at 1,344 meters, is the tallest of the three. From there the expedition will drive south into the Lake District where the team will climb Scafell Pike (978 meters). The final of the three is the Welsh mountain, Snowdon, standing at no less than 1,085 meters. The team will aim to summit all three in a total trekking time of 15 hours or less.

The team of 18 from Fox Williams will set off on the morning of the 14 September 2019 with the aim of raising money for the wonderful Chandran Foundation the firm’s chosen charity for the year.

The Chandran Foundation strives to ensure that children with a difficult start in life do not miss out on the benefits of a good education, and are able to compete for training and employment opportunities, helping them achieve their true potential.  In recognising the neglected demand for accessible education, they work with schools and housing associations in inner-city areas with a high proportion of children from underprivileged backgrounds.  Currently, they are offering GetFed and GetSmart clubs to five to eleven year olds in Lambeth and Ealing primary schools.

The GetFed clubs provide free breakfast before school for children whose families are unable to afford to feed them properly.  The GetSmart Club is an after-school initiative which is offered free of charge to head teachers and parents.  To ensure the Foundation can give the best support and identify the children who would benefit the most from their programme of targeted support, they work with a panel of carefully selected tutors and the schools.  A typical group comprises up to ten children, led by two tutors, and the children get involved in activities in English and Maths.

The Foundation is currently developing a new programme of GetConfident clubs.  These clubs are aimed at improving the communication abilities of the children they support.  Whilst raising educational performance can do much to improve young people’s chances of success, many continue to be held back by under-developed communication and leadership skills.  The Chandran Foundation believes passionately that all young people deserve the same chance of success – whatever their family circumstances.  The best pupils in the best schools will combine educational achievement with brimming self-confidence.  This is the Foundation’s ambition for the young people they seek to help.
