On December 31st, 2015, my sister-n-law and brother-in-law, Jessica and Dean Fowler, welcomed their three miracles into this world. Anna Grace, Vivian "Ella", and Colin Thomas were all born at UNC Hospital at 3:31, 3:32 & 3:33pm respectively (32 weeks). Jessica was hospitalized several days before their delivery with severe preeclampsia. Her medical team at UNC Hospital were able to control her blood pressure for several days. After days of monitoring Jessica and several medical interventions to prepare the babies for birth, they were born via C-Section and are progressing in the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) under the care of a wonderful team of nurses and doctors.
The Fowler Triplets truly are blessings to their mommy, daddy, and extended family. Many of you may know Jessica and Dean's story and struggles with infertility over the last three years before learning they were pregnant with their beautiful babies. So when we say the Triplets are a miracle, we don't use this term lightly.
Until the Triplets are discharged from the Neonatal Care Unit Jessica will spend her days with them learning from the skilled medical staff on how to care , feed/nurse, and spend crucial bonding time with the Triplets. Dean has returned to work full-time. He is working during the day in Raleigh, and then driving to Chapel Hill after work to care for Jessica (who is recovering from her C-Section) and spending quality time with the Triplets.
Because of the distance from their home (over 45 miles) in Garner and the high level of care the Triplets are receiving, Jessica and Dean qualified for a room at the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill (RMHCH). This is a great help to them because they are closer to the Triplets.
Many of you have reached out and asked how you can help Jessica and Dean while the Triplets are still being cared for at UNC Hospital. There are so many options for a family with newborns but many of them just don't work logistically for this family. It is very difficult to offer a Meal Train because they do not have access to a personal refrigerator or kitchen to store food at the RMHCH. There are also very strict rules on what can be stored in their room and they are not allowed guests at the RMHCH. Since Dean is working and Jessica helps care for the Triplets at the hospital, there is very little time left for cooking or grocery shopping. They are spending a lot of their personal funds on food, gas, and parking.
We would love to help relieve some of the burden associated with caring for their Triplets while they are in neonatal care. We hope and pray the Triplets are home soon, but until then, this is how you can help. All funds collected will go directly to Jessica and Dean.
I have personally witnessed Jessica and Dean go above and beyond to participate and even create Meal Trains for new moms. I have watched them buy Christmas presents for low-income children in our community. They have even shared baby clothes with other parents at UNC's Neontal Care Unit who are less fortunate than them. Giving to others comes naturally to them. They have supported all of us. Now is the perfect time to love and support their new family!
We know many are unable to give financially. Prayer is a wonderful gift as well. Please continue to pray for the Triplets and their parents. We pray they will all be home very, very soon.
