Four Years Fighting for his Future

Hi y’all!

Our names are Allysa and Frank Beardsley. We have two beautiful boys, Mason and Easton. Mason is 10 years old and has been through a lot in his short life. At 6 years old we had our first medical scare. He was in the hospital for 6 days, tested for everything you can possibly imagine and we left not only empty-handed but with a child that now had a chronic illness.

He would spike a fever of over 105, have debilitating joint pain, and become covered in a rash every 4-6 weeks. Here we are 4 years later, with no end in sight. He has seen every specialist and had every test with no answers. Based on these tests, he is a “healthy” 10 year old boy.

Anyone who has ever seen Mason during one of his “flare-ups” as we have come to call them, knows this is not true. Between the “flare-ups” he presents as a healthy kiddo. During the “flare-ups” he is anything but. He is tired and sore and constantly hurting.

He was recently diagnosed with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) which means that his body does not circulate blood properly. When he tries to stand up it doesn’t move to his head quickly enough so he gets dizzy, light-headed, and sometimes passes out. We are also leaning towards a dysautonomia diagnosis, which means the things that should be automatic in normal systems don’t happen normally for him including blood flow and breathing. He has also begun having trouble breathing at night. One night I recorded him stop breathing for nearly a minute and a half when I believe he also passed out.

After having no success with doctors and medical treatment, we found an incredible specialized clinic dedicated to POTS patients. They treat the underlying causes of POTS instead of treating the symptoms and we are hoping they will give him the help and treatment he so desperately needs.

We unfortunately do not have the money that is needed to start his care there. We are hoping that’s where caring hearts come in! If you have taken the time to read this far, we hope that you can help us in whatever way you can! Including prayers, shares, and donations if possible!

We just want our son to be able to live, not just survive day to day. We want him to be able to stand up, like a 10 year old should, without getting dizzy. We want him to be able to walk down the hallway without being hunched over due to intense joint pain.

We want him to be able to just be a kid.
