Hi, my name is Maureen and I’m raising money to help feed 4 starving thoroughbred mares I rescued. I’ve seen many pictures and commercials of starving horses, but never seen it firsthand. I bought them out from a destination for a feed lot, sight unseen, and am slowly feeding them back to health.

On day one I realized that this effort would be upwards of a year before they are back to full health. I soon learned that all four are likely pregnant after their suspiciously large belly, despite their emaciated body, led to a still born foal being delivered just days after I rescued them. One mare even has severe damage to her beautiful face and a puncture wound that pierced through forehead into her sinus cavity.

I am dedicated to their full recovery, but the cost of feed alone is over $1,000 per month. In addition there are many vet bills ahead to x ray the wounded horse, trim feet, float teeth and care for their foals. I’d love your help providing these sweet girls with the love and nourishment that they deserve.
