FoundRising restores Clean Water access 4 Uganda
Tax deductible
It is estimated that over 20 million people living in rural Uganda do not have access to consistent sources of clean water. Many of the existing boreholes (i.e. water wells) in these areas have fallen into disrepair due to age or they are shallow wells (less than 30 meters deep) that risk contamination from local pit latrines or pesticides. FoundRising seeks to identify deep water sources that are in disrepair and engage in a complete restoration. In other words, everything is new except the hole in the ground. Occasionally, during our community surveys, we identify a community in dire need of a new water source - in this case, we drill a new borehole to benefit the community.
When a community water source fails the community members often do not have the economic resources to pay for its repair. This forces community members to travel to the next nearest water source - which can be a very far distance (the worst we have seen is a 3-mile one-way commute for clean water). A surprising amount of time is spent in water collection as water sources can be far from households and when you arrive there is a significant line of others in similar need.
Please consider contributing to support clean water scarcity in Uganda's impoverished communities. 95% of all contributions go directly to support clean water projects (with the 5% paid to Servants International for admin fees).
FoundRising is short for Foundation Rising and we focus on addressing the basic needs of vulnerable rural communities. Our main focus is establishing and restoring sustainable clean water access and improving the sanitation and hygiene of these water sources. Our model is a bit different - our organization is powered by talented Ugandans - they are the faces of change in their local communities! Our US personnel donate their time and effort to support our talented Uganda staff!
We are all about giving Ugandans jobs as well as clean water!
FoundRising is a registered affiliate of Servants International and a registered NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) in Uganda.
