Who we are:
We, employees of Founding Farmers DC, have been directly impacted by the closure of DC bars and restaurants, which has led to a mass layoff of all employees within our restaurant, including kitchen staff, managers, servers, hosts, bussers, etc. This closure may last between 8 weeks and 6 months.
Our Mission:
While our former employer has graciously extended a free meal to us every day, as have many DC organizations, many of us are also in need of financial assistance to prevent longterm personal and economic repercussions, rather than immediate day to day assistance. Currently, most of us are applying for other work, industry relief funds, and/or unemployment insurance, and no one is sitting idle during this time. However, most financial relief systems are overwhelmed with the influx of industry workers and are unable to support us, and no other jobs in the area are hiring due to quarantining and social distancing procedures.
We are hoping to raise money through this GoFundMe for coworkers who, due to whatever circumstances, cannot afford to rely solely on their personal savings to wait out this crisis and are experiencing serious financial hardship. We are advocating for those who are at risk of missing rent and utility bills, loan payments, child support payments, or other serious financial necessities and obligations. Any money donated will be given on a need basis for those experiencing immediate, pressing, and necessary financial obligations
