Annual Foundations Fundraiser
Ever want to help change the world but not really sure how? Well, look no further! Tiffany Harper and Yondi Morris-Andrews sit on the board for Foundations College Prep, a new charter school on the south side of Chicago serving the Roseland/Morgan Park community! We are on a mission to raise money for this school, and bring some resources to the students and community like they have never seen before!
Foundations opened its doors just over a year ago! At Foundations, 100% of our students come from low-income, African-American families. Many of our students live in the Roseland Community, an area in Chicago that has been plagued by significant gun violence, particularly during Chicago’s “bloody summer”. Over 20% of our students have special needs.
Sadly, early testing shows that our kids came to us already 2 to 3 grade levels behind in Math and Reading. If they had stayed in the system otherwise available to them, chances are that most would not graduate from high school and almost none would graduate college ready. So we have our work cut out for us, but we are committed to providing the resources that each child needs to succeed.
That’s where you come in – getting these students to grade level would not be possible without generous donors whose dollars support the resources and tools that the our students need to succeed.
