Foundation Repair For Damage From Ida Fund
Hi, my name is Heather Clark. I live in South River, New Jersey with my parents in the house my grandfather had built. September 1st, Wednesday night, hurricane Ida hit us hard. As our basement was filling up with water, we all of a sudden heard loud crashing sounds coming from the side of our house the bedrooms were on. Turns out, the sound was actually our foundation crumbling! As soon as we realized, we had to flee in the middle of the night fearing for our safety and our cats’. Since then, we’ve been back to the house to see the damage. The flooded basement reached about a foot of water, however has dried up since then, but the worst is that the foundation under our rooms collapsed and now there’s a giant sinkhole in our lawn. Mud, grass, and daylight are now in the basement and the collapse of the wall measures 22 ft x 6 ft. It’s severe damage and the contractor’s we’ve gotten so far have given estimates of $55,000 and $38,000. We are trying to get some funds from the government, but it wouldn’t cover near as much. We are desperate and are currently moving from place to place from a motel to family to friends’ house while we are taking care of our house since we can’t live there until it’s safe. My Mom would be using the funds solely to rebuild the foundation wall, replacing the water heater and boiler, and fixing the water irrigation system since it broke in the collapse and also to prevent this disaster in the future. Please, whatever you can donate will be a great help and will truly be appreciated!
