Hey all!
Jeff and Rhonda Foster lost everything when their house burned to the ground March 21st, 2024.
As most of us do here in Brown County, the Foster's have a wood stove. The cleared out ash had been left cooling outside in freezing temperatures overnight in a metal container when it was emptied onto the ground the next morning. Jeff is cautious and meticulous with the ash and even spread it around to be sure there wasn't anything burning. But a perfect storm of events unfolded. There was evidently a single ember, and perfect dry conditions with wind. The fire built from the woods, around and to the deck of the house. Jeff, unaware of the fervor of hell burning outside, was still at home with a day off of work. He miraculously received a call from a passing neighbor asking if he was doing a controlled burn. By the time he made it outside and realized there was nothing he could do to calm the blaze it was too late to go back inside to rescue even a single item. It all happened so fast.
Everything was lost. All of Jeff's guitars, recording equipment, studio gear are gone. Rhonda's 50 year collection of vintage clothing and jewelry are all gone. All of their prepping supplies and monetary savings for emergencies was lost. All of their personal momentos, family photos, and everything precious to them was lost. I hope by listing things to help you understand the depth of this tragedy. I can hardly for me to wrap my head around it.
Insurance will be there to cover some of the loss, but not all of it.
It is still early days, and there will be more to update with later.
In the meantime we can start raising some funds to help them when the insurance runs out.
