Foster's Fight

Donation protected

"We're having a baby!"

It was the best news!!  Alex and Calvin were expecting & they immediately jumped into Mommy / Daddy mode.   22 weeks into the pregnancy, their baby boy was diagnosed with HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome), a severe congenital heart defect that affects normal blood flow.   So before he even arrived, Alex & Calvin were prepared for the fact that Foster would need a series of 3 hearts surgeries:  1 at two weeks, 1 at 6-8 months, and a final surgery at two-three years.   The news was beyond difficult to recieve.  They were set for induction and Foster was born on May 15th.   On his first night, he went into distress and was taken to Payeton Manning where they ballooned his heart and placed him on a vent.   It was quickly determined that he couldn't wait two weeks for the first norwood procedure/open heart surgery.  So at just 3-days old, Foster's heart was opened up.  It did not go quite as well as hoped and he was placed on ECMO (life support).  After further complications, he had to be re-opened up later that same evening.  The Doctors were preparing Alex and Calvin to say goodbye to their son.

But, God.

There aren't enough allotted spaces to fully describe the incredible ways that God has moved in this little guy's life and the magnitude of intercessary prayer.
What we know is that this little boy is doing so much better than ANYONE ever anticipated.  The faith of many has been strengthened in powerful ways- and not just because Foster is doing well, but because God is good and present and faithful even if we don't know the outcome.   Foster has amazed everyone with his progress and has surpassed all medical expectations.  But he remains a sick little boy and has a long road ahead of him.   You can follow his journey here https://www.facebook.com/Fostersheart/.

Alex and Calvin have been asked, repeatedly, what they need and if their were any fund-raising efforts they could join in.  While waiting for their little guy to get strong enough to come home, the bills are beginning to rear their ugly heads.   So in addition to continued prayer, financial gifts would be greatly appreciated.   Thank you from the bottom of hearts for everything!!
