Foster Theater Spaces for Women of Color
Donation protected
Hello World! My name is Tavia Percia and I am an artist activist in the San Francisco Bay Area.
As some of you may know, I am the Co-Chair at Oakland School for the Arts’ school of Theatre.
For the past four years, I have dedicated my time, energy and commitment to guiding theatre students to their fullest potential as actor/performers and helping to foster spaces for all students but specially students of color to tell the stories most important to them and thei identity.
And as much as I love my students and want to continue this practice, I am learning that this work is just as important to adults, particularly women of color who have an interest in the arts. I have had little time to work on my own projects.
In 2025, I am hoping to branch out and do more independent work. It is important to me to be able to build community with black women in the arts and create a performance opportunity for black actresses who are new to theatre.
This GoFundMe is to help support my production of “For Colored Girls” with black women who are new to theatre or haven’t performed in a very long time. This is a passion project that has become such a healing experience for all of us involved. The money here will help to pay the actresses, build a set and pay for performance space.
The Projected show time is April 2025.
Each Donor of $25 or more will receive a complimentary ticket to the show!
I have been so blessed with supportive people around me and I am so appreciative!
Anything helps! Many Thanks ❤️
