FORWARD FUND. AFTER CARE for LONG-TERM BLACK TRANS CAREGIVER

Dear friends.

Many of you, in kindness and generosity, have expressed your desire to contribute to the financial aspects of my grieving process and the ending of a 10 year long experience of providing acute and isolated caregiving with my mother. I thank you in advance. I have partnered with Go fund me to keep things simple and provide a way for those who care to share resources, monies, and overall encouragement.

Luella Gilmore was m mother. We loved each other from birth to death and beyond. I laid down my own life to care for her for nearly 10 years! It was intense and taxing. She left this world on September 18, 2023. This is the day that my life forever changed. Yes, I’m free, but not really, not yet.

Some of you may not know that the grieving process and the commitment to move forward is not solely focused on the sadness of missing a loved one or combating not knowing what to do with myself now that she is gone. Grieving and the ending of an extensive caregiver journey, also means the finalizing of experiences, repairing of the family home, shoring up final costly bills and a host of other expenses that now fall all on me now that OUR beloved Lulu is gone.

Your generous contribution means that I will be able to complete these expenses and turn the page of my own healing journey and move back into my own life as I had to lay it down for nearly eight years in order to tend to the heavy charge that I had been given. I call this, the Forward Fund.
