Hello! My name is Devansh and I am the writer, director, and producer of For The Wicked's music video, a song produced by Gibs. The song revolves around a man lost in his mind, lost in the world, who finds himself stranded in an unknown jungle. With the help of worldly elements, he finds his true self through dance and nature. Here's the link to the song: For The Wicked
That's the thirty-second elevator pitch... Now for the whole story:
Gibs and I began working on this video over a month ago at a cafe in Westwood where our conversation started with matcha tea (disgustingly distasteful) and Spam Musubi (if you don't know what this is, you're welcome - I've changed your life). Who's Gibs? Gibran Wirjawan, aka Gibs, is a multi-instrumental music producer/DJ hailing from Indonesia, who came to the land of opportunity and taxes to get people grooving and moving. Who am I? You know my name. What am I? I'm a filmmaker born in Bollywood but raised in Hollywood; I was conceived in Bombay and delivered to LA in the summer of 2019. Since landing in LA, Gibs has produced an album, performed countless shows, minted 10 original NFTs (we're all going to the moon), and pursued an education in physics and the music business. On the other hand, I helped grow a startup, wrote and directed a couple of short films, assisted others with theirs, and did a music video, while studying for an MBA and completing a film degree. Safe to say, this project is in good hands.
The investment is mainly for acquiring permits, renting equipment, covering transportation, and getting our crew paid. Gibs and I will take no part of the donation, except what is left over after covering all production costs and remunerating all crew members first.
The principal photography of the video is scheduled between 21st May and 25th May, in one of Los Angeles' many national parks/trails (hence the permits). All the crew members are international students, so we have to make sure everything is kosher (i love saying kosher). Our team consists of a dancer from Colombia, Mona, a cinematographer from Poland, Ania, actors from Lebanon and India, Carina and Dev, and an exceptional assistant director, Nina, from Missouri.
If you invest in this project, your name will be listed in the credits and you could get some Dunia merch (our label).
We will be sharing all updates on our socials and on here, so you know exactly what is going on when, and how it's going.
I promise you, this video is going to be amazing, and you can take a part in the process. Every dollar counts.
