This fundraiser is for EVERYONE'S FAVORITE: Tavin "Blue" Wicker! His mother, “Miss Mal”, calls him “TJ” and he is affectionately known ALL around Newberry, South Carolina, as Blue!
Blue learned in August 2025 that he has a rare type of bone cancer (Stage 3 Osteosarcoma) in his spine, pelvic, sacrum, and coccyx areas. Over the last few months, Blue has been traveling to his medical treatments at South Carolina Oncology Associates in Columbia and to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, along with the local medical care of Dr. Oscar Lovelace and Dr. Spencer Lovelace of Lovelace Family Medicine in Prosperity - all of these expenses fall on Blue and his mother who are both out of work for the time being.
Blue had a PET scan on January 21 and the results revealed that the tumor at L-4 and L-5 is growing. He was originally scheduled to travel to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota on March 11, but they have bumped the date up to February 18 to prevent the risk of him becoming paralyzed due to the size of the tumor on his spine. His doctor at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Peter Rose, is a world-famous surgeon for the rare bone cancer that Blue has.
Blue is a graduate of Newberry High School where he played football for the Bulldogs. He is 33 years old and, until his bone cancer diagnosis, he worked at Food Lion which is how most folks know of his friendly personality, warm hugs, and contagious smile.
Blue enjoys riding alongside officers with the Newberry Police Department, has occasional training sessions with Newberry EMS, and he has a love for comedy and wrestling. He is selfless, he always puts others first, and he has the ability to make everyone laugh. Blue has a kind spirit and a heart of gold with a unique trait of making friends with (literally!) everyone he meets.
Day after day, Blue is standing strong in the face of adversity…and WE CAN HELP. The expenses for Blue are very high and he has to pay for the flights and travel arrangements...PLEASE HELP.
